Bed rail bent before taking home new purchase

Hi all,

Just signed paperwork on our new 2017 Forest River high wall HW27SC today!

Guess what! Upon final prep I went to go see the final closure and lo and behold I found one bed end completely stuck.

The rail was bent at the front on both sides so this prevented the bed closure. Probably someone not laying on top with the braces.

Rv place said they would repair free of charge the rail but my question is should there any other part of the rail mechanism that I better check before taking it off the lot?

Would a replacement rail just fix the issue? I’m worried now but everything else checked out. Seems odd I had to be the one to say something was very wrong with the bed.

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. The forum has some real experts with that type of rig that know the correct repair procedures.

Thanks! I’m upgrading from a 96 Coleman pop up and super excited for my family. I’ll update when the repair is done and what I think.

Welcome. I have a 2009 HW27SC and love it. We usually take 30 - 60 day trips in the fall and it works out fine, pulls easy, but is somewhat heavy. Hope you have a proper tow vehicle. Replacing the rails will probably fix your problem but check all the slides, rollers, etc. for alignment/damage and be sure that you are there when they close it up and make them open it again to be sure. They should open pretty easy. Good luck and hope you enjoy it.

My question would be Why would you sign the paper work before doing a Very thorough PDI. Good Luck on getting it fixed before taking it home

Congrats on the new camper fellow Michigander. A good reputable dealer will have it fixed for you right with no worries. If they say it's going to take to long then I would see about exchanging it for another one if they have one on their lot.

Well everything was great and the business did take care of everything and then some. Came home and everything pulls very well with no major issues so it is just like new. Can’t wait to take it out on our first May trip and every month until at least until October. It is prewired for solar so that is my next purchase for this camper. Thanks guys!
