best way to clean TV 7 pin connector

Look closer. The tube says contact, but the item description from etrailer says dielectric.

I used to be in the Marines and was in communications...we would clean all the connections of our thousands of dollars of equipment with a very high tech tool called a pencil eraser...yes, just get you a good ole #2 pencil with a pink eraser on it and use that eraser on the metal connector parts!

Way too tight o get a pencil eraser in there. Maybe could only clean the ends of the blades. I have already shinned the ends up.

When I was in the Navy, we used erasers on our rifles. (NOT a gun - "This is my rifle and this is my gun - this one's for shootin' and this one's for fun!')

I haven't bought these yet (point files) but they're going on my next order. Pretty sure they'd work pretty well, one or two swipes on each connector should work well......Does this tell my age when a point file was a necessity?

Don't have the point files, but do have several point gauge sets with a file as one of the blades like on a set of fingernail clippers.

Be sure it's a light swipe or two. Those things cut pretty well, the Standard Ignition number is TF-1. They're still a top seller.

I have brand new point files used for connecters in FM and TV Transmitters. 7 to 10 KV. Can not use an lube or grease just catches fire and burns. Gold old emery board from the DW nail kit works find on the 7 pin. You can displace moisture with 99% iso alcohol and then use grease to stop corrosion. On RF connectors up to UHF we used silicone grease. On microwave waveguide for 7 or 8 ghz same grease when make connections.

You would be shocked. I work for Standard Motor Products as a sales rep, get this, DR2270 points (Fits the Delco Remy distributor for GM products. That upper distributor assembly was made for everything, cars, tractors, stationary engines.) are in the top ten part numbers regarding sales. We sell tens of thousands of those every year. I've got one warehouse that keeps ten sets in stock, 24 points files, condensers and all in stock and sell it all the time.

When I started with this company six years ago and first looked at sales numbers I called a counterpart to confirm that as correct, I simply couldn't believe it.

I read somewhere to use "foaming bathroom cleaner" such as scrubbing bubble etc. spray in the connectors and let it set, then reapply to remove dissolved corrosion. I can't remember what was suggested to use to remove the cleaner, probably brake cleaner or something like that that will not leave a residue behind, then treat with bulb grease to protect. I haven't tried this, but sounds like it would work.
