Bolt pattern in Flagstaff 228

I have a flagstaff 228. I want to put 14" tires and rims on. Stock were 13". Everything I'm reading seems to indicate that the bolt pattern is 5 X 4.5". This seems to be a RV standard. Is that what mine would be? The manual just says tire size.

My 228BH is 5-4.5. I'm headed to 15" rims from 14" come spring time.

Where you originally 13"? You must of done the "axle flip".

Dealer did the axle flip and installed the 14" tires before I picked it up in Denver. Made a trade for some Hummer parts for a new set of three 15" chrome trailer rims.

Original tires from the factory were 175x80 13; dealer installed 205x75 14. I'm going to install either 215x70 15 or 205x70 15.

Just need to make sure there is enough clearance since the 215s are 0.8 inches larger in diameter and about 0.8 inches wider. The 205s are 0.5 inches larger in diameter and 0.3 inches wider.

Don't think I'll have a problem with the 215s.

My original size was suppose to be 175/80R13, but the trailer was delivered with 185/80R13. I'm guessing because the 175 wouldn't really have the weight rating. I noticed I was rubbing the fender well with the 185's and I can't have that, so I did the axle flip and I'm putting on 205/75R14's. Along with new scissor stabilizing jacks, a new double step and a new ball mount.

What will be the over all height lift when you are done?

I got about 4-3/4" to 5" by "flipping" the axle and I'll get about another 3/4" by going to larger tires.

The 175s just make the weight rating since they include the tongue weight into the calculations. I know on mine the tongue weight was high from the factory, but adding a powerlift, a second propane tank and dual deep cycle batteries, my tongue weight is right around 505-515 lbs (as measured with a tongue weight scale).

Where did you get your double step? The added new scissor jacks at each corner, but kept the ball head, and added a different single step. Had someone complain about the single step being too high for them last year, so might consider getting a double step...

I haven't got the new scissor jacks yet or double step, but all the local rv dealerships said they could order me one in. It won't line up to existing holes, so I'll have to weld it on. Expensive up in Canada though. $145

I want a second tank on the tongue but I'm over 400 lbs already. I'm sure I'll push 450-500 if I do it.

Tank only adds approx. 38 lbs when full, plus a few pounds for the larger bracket and extra hose. Do you have a BH? I thought mine was a bit heavy at 500 (plus) but I have the BH with the little bike hauling deck on the front.

I just have the 228. No bike rack or slide out. I like the idea of a portable propane tank to attach my light and eccotemp to. Will decide before spring comes.
