Cable question on pop up camper

hello I am working on a 2002 Rockwood Freedom pop up camper. The cable that runs to the crank on the tounge of the trailer was broke. I unscrewed the brackets on each corner of camper where the springs go thru those pipes. I pulled the springs out of the track that run thru down the middle of camper and I pulled out the old cable. I then put the new cable in and went around the pulley and ran it thru the center thru that track and connected it to the crank on the front. The first time I tryed it the whole roof raised. Then I let it down and tryed to lift it again. But only the back end of roof would start to come up. Front stayed down. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance

There is a thread called " lift cable broke, 6 days until camping" in this tent camper forum. It has a link to the detailed directions for replacing and adjusting the lift cable. It gives a great description and drawings to follow.

I would have given you the link but I didn't know how to copy it to here.

Good luck and happy camping.

I keep getting different feedback when I talk to people about if the roof of a pop up should be up or down. so seeing as I had it down to keep pressure off like I was told. And it dont go up now like it should. Is it safe to say the roof should be in the up position? I have the new cable in and the springs are in their channels. I did notice when I tryed putting the pipes back up and attaching them to all 4 corners. There seemed to be somewhat of a lot of tension trying to get them up in place and to screw back to the sides of camper.
