Camping in Catskills

Heading out to the Catskills for a few days then turning north to lake George. Anyone have any suggestions on any must stay or must avoid campsites. Looking to do some hiking, biking and of course relaxing. This is our first time to the upstate New York area. Thanks in advance for the feedback. Happy camping everyone

Do not miss Oscar's Smokehouse in Warrensburg. It's just a few minutes off I87 exit 23 (head north through town).
If you eat meat, pick up their smoked pork chops for dinner, and prepackaged ham bits and cheese curds to snack on while driving. In any case, their baked beans (made with bacon) and potato salad cannot be beat. This is a long standing family business. The facility burned to the ground a few years ago, and their insurance paid the employees salaries while they rebuilt. That alone would make me go there. The new store is "green", expansive, yummy. They even have a trailer parking lot, which the old store did not.

Yogi bear at birchwood acres is a good stop if you have kids, they have a new spray park and swimming pool , lots to do, friendly staff and very clean. We seasonal camp there

I heard they could be in Mexico by now. I'm hoping. We're heading up to the Adirondacks in a month.

Camping in Catskills

State campground in Hague is a great place. Growing up we stayed at Lake George RV Park. Very nice and tons of stuff for kids to do. Now that I pay the bill it's mainly state parks. Haha

Most places mentioned are in the Adirondack park. En route a nice state CG is North South Lake near Tannersville NY Find it on Reserve America. It's an easy find off NYS thruway and or rt 32 or 9w out of Kingston. Dry camp, no hook ups but plenty of nice sites, nice beach, nice hiking and biking. Very clean showers and bathrooms too. One of our favorite places. Worth a look.enjoy
