City Water

My wife and I just bought a used 2015 Rockwood 276HW. On our first trip out last weekend we woke up with water underneath our camper. My fears were a leak underneath the sink as that has been an issue before on this unit and the faucet was replaced. After inspecting, the water was coming from the over flow on the fresh water tank. Problem is I was hooked up to city water so to my knowledge I should not have gotten any water in the fresh water tank. Is this normal, did I not shut a valve, or is it back filling from the water pump? This is our first camper so any help is appreciated.

Turn off and disconnect the city water.

Turn on the water pump and run several gallons out of the tank.

Turn off the pump and reconnect the city water and turn it on.

Does the water start running out of the overflow again?

Yes it's the pump internal check valve. Often distorted by having shore on line while the pump is still energized. Sometimes the pump check can be salvaged by shutting off shore pressure and use the pump for few hours. Shut off the pump and cut shore water back on and watch the tank level. Usually cures the problem.
