Cleaning tent material - great hint

I purchased my new 2015 Viking 2308 last September, but it was sitting on the dealer lot and set up for an extended period of time. The area it was set up in was crushed stone, and pretty dusty. Upon delivery, I did not realize how dirty the canvas was until I got the unit home and "bonded" with it. I purchased 303 cleaner and scrubbed, and scrubbed, and rinsed and scrubbed again. I still could not get the ground in dirt out of the vinyl roof material and you could clearly see the dirt in the design of the vinyl. After taking it out of moth balls for the winter, I purchased some magic erasers, and WOW. The vinyl looks brand new now! It came right off with just a little bit of effort. I then treated it with 303 protectant, and it looks brand new now.

Just wanted to share a great tip for those of you who want to clean and protect your vinyl tent material.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm always trying to close up a "clean" skin, but pine trees and critters don't see it that way! Think I'll get some Magic Erasers before our next trip.

Those things make me nervous. What makes them work so well? If it's a chemical, how will that affect the material?

Once you clean them, get a set of Popup Gizmos.
That way the tent ends will stay clean, along with all the other advantages they provide.

Yes. I wanted the Pop Up Gizmos last season. But after some black berry stains I am going to place an order order now. Not only for keeping the pup cooler, I want it to keep my canvas clean from sap, bird dropping, and dust. . Hope everyone has a great camping season this year.

Has anyone tried Meguiar's Canvas Cleaner?

There is no chemical in them at all. The only fear i have is they are very mildly abrasive, but not enough to permeate the vinyl. I plan on treating the material with 303, which will keep the water retarding properties. I am also taking the suggestion of popup gizmos and will order those in the next week.
