Compression switch on pop up roof. ??

While taking down my roof yesterday I noticed what looked like a compression switch (not sure if true name of it) mounted on the inside of the roof (front drivers side) so that it would compress once the roof touched the sidewalls when closed up.

Does anyone know what it does? It seems to me it would be a safety switch. But I cannot figure out what it is protecting if the roof is down or if it activates when the roof is raised and the switch extends what it would protect then as well.

Thoughts?

Vin.

Probably serves the same purpose as the switches under the galley on most popups. If memory serves, the 296 galley doesn't swing down. Probably kills the lights when the top is down. Try pushing it with the lights on and see what happens.

I follow you there, but what I was talking about was the disconnect for the lights to keep you from leaving them on accidentally when you put the top down. On models with the fold down galley, it's normally under the sink. When the sink flips / swings up, the button gets pressed.

X2 on raspiveys' above post. You don't want power to the lights and accidently have them on when folding up. The heat from the lights could start a fire on the folded in tent end material.

Im not sure because when my pup is closed but I have the door open I can still turn the lights on using the main switch but mine is a high wall if that matters.

I had the same switch in my 2007 rockwood HW popup. It was the kill all switch that ran the lights on the roof. The only thing it did not control was the AC but it had to be plugged in using the port on the back side of the roof anyway.
