converter problem?

We have a 2002 Rockwood 1904 pop up. When plugged into AC the lights work great. When unplugged from AC there are no lights with a new battery. Volt meter show things are good upto the fuses. When plugged into AC and the circiut breaker is flipped off the lights go from bright to dim to off in about 15 seconds. Any ideas, is it a bad converter? Thanks

Sounds like the battery is either bad, or is not charged. If the converter is bad, you would not have the lights when plugged into shore power like you are seeing. Measure the voltage on the battery when plugged-in and see if it is charging. You should see something like 13.6V or more.

Look for an inline fuse or resettable circuit breaker on the power feed from the battery to the camper.

I would have suggested that, but since the lights died a slow death (~15 seconds) when shore power is removed, the connection to the battery sounds like it is OK. If it were a breaker or fuse, the lights would have died immediately with removal of power.
