Looks like a sunken battery box. Can you access the top of it thru a storage hole?

mystery box

A plastic box loosely mouted to the underside of cheap plywood doesn't seem sturdy enough for batteries. Especially with the bounce/vibration while traveling down the road.

Looked like it might be sat down in the hole from above and hanging from a lip. If its mounted from the bottom I can only think its weatherproofing something. Hopefully someone will chime in with insight.

Does not look like it is attached real well (one screw in each corner?)..

What is right above it on the wall?

Not battery box. The batts on the tonque. Its right below the slide out so no access from in the trailer. Just wondering what it might be. Just seen it when I was trying a setup for the grey dump connection to the stinky slinky. A garden hose takes to long.

Does the slide above have kitchen or any infrastructure? Or is it just furniture. I would guess it's a place for wires or hoses to hang slack when slide moves in or out. Beyond that, you got me.

Maybe it is me, based on a a job I used to have, but looks like it would hold a few bricks.

above the grey water drain, do you have an outside shower or perhaps a water filter or perhaps the electric water heater on the side of your TT? perhaps it is a cover for one of these items?

Not sure what that is. Strange.

But what about the plywood? Why is it not protected anymore? My Rockwood has a black mesh type covering over it. Promax I think it was called. Did they stop using it? is the plywood just exposed to the road water now? Will that not destroy it? I have never seen exposed plywood on the bottom of a camper before.

Confused.

Vin.

Off topic a little, but our popup had bare wood underneath too. I undercoated it right after purchase.

That looks like its protecting something, not supporting anything. Very light weight Vac injected plastic. The wood is OSB make with waterproof glue. Its normally covered to prevent abrasion from road debris. That black mat is not watertight. One of my pups in the 80's had similar construction, made by Coleman.

You mention it is located below the slide, could it be protecting or housing a slide out motor?

It looks like it might have a hole in it as well? Wonder if it is a catch drain for any water that might get under the slide.

Vince. How do we know it is waterproof glue? Is it special RV wood sheets? This is scary. I too would like to undercoat mine but what about trapping moisture in? Wood and water is tricky.

I'll don't recall seeing this box under my popup but will have to take a second look.

I'm intrigued by your grey tank fitting. Are you able to attach a 4" sewer hose bib to it?
I've been using a garden hose fitting that goes to the sewer hose and while it works, it's crazy slow. Short of redoing the plumbing, I've been trying to come up with ideas to either have a 4" connection to the grey tank or even better, join the two dump gates to a single hose connection.
