Electric winch 2516g rockwood

Purchased a 2011 rockwood 2516 g last week and was curious about the manual over ride for the electric winch. I put the crank into the whole but couldn't get it to engage the nut. I removed the winch cover and discovered the reason I couldn't get it to engage the nut was because the previous owner had sheared it off.
Does anyone know if a new nut can be welded on without destroying the shaft it's welded to....i'm guessing that gear shaft is heat treated and wonder if welding would destroy the heat treatment.

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. I don't have the answer to your question but would think as dependable as the these power winches a guy could roll the dice. I don't believe they are that expensive to replace, with that said why not try and weld it.
