Electric winch switch will not turn off

I have a Carefree of Colorado PN55012. The motor will only turn off if I hold the switch in the down position, I can not release the switch so I had to unplug the power. The roof only goes up. I replaced the switch, still only stays on.Could the relays have gone bad?

Is it the older style that uses grease or the newer style? If older, there are no relays. Just a six position switch and two limit switches; hi and lo.

Can't help, have no wiring for it, and not familiar. Sounds like a relay but you will have to troubleshoot with a meter. Good luck....

We had a similar situation this weekend. The winch was running up and would not stop when I released the switch I had to hold the switch in the down position to stop it and then reach over and basically pull the wire from the battery. even if I pulled the wires out of the back of the switch, when I touched the battery it would start to move up again.

it ended up ripping the little green wire that tells you where to stop.

We have a Rockwood premier 1904

I figured it out! It is the limit switch. If you bypass the limit switch it works fine. But be warned you have to stop it at the right height, it won't stop on its on.

Where is the limit switch and what an I looking for?

I think I'm going to go out there later today and look at it again. I wonder if my warranty is still good because I also want them to look at the little plastic piece on the slide that moves out sometimes.
