Extending grey water capacity

Hi,
I have a 12 gal. grey water tank on my HW27SC and wish to increase my usage. Has anyone used some type of pump to transfer the grey water to another type of tank in their pickup bed?
Thanks for any input.

For state parks w/out sewer hookups I bring-along a 42 gallon Barker waste tote. The tote has wheels & a handle that fits-around the hitch on my truck. When it is full I just slowly tow it behind my truck to the dump station.

Since your TT only has 12 gal. capacity, you can leave it under your TT with gray valve open for longer showers, etc...

And then, we have a 42 gallon FW bladder to transport more FW to our TT when we are not close to a spigot... Since we have a fiberglass cap, I just place the bladder on top of our cap & fill-up with FW on the way back from the dump station.

Thanks for your quick reply. I am trying to avoid the tote solution if possible.

I have a Flojet Rv Waste pump that pumps into a 35 gallon tote in the back of my dually. FloJet RV Waste Pump Kit - Xylem 18555000A - Drain & Flush Systems - Camping World

SO what we have done in state parks is to use a small bucket-ish container in our sink to collect grey water - we would then transfer this to the Black tank via toilet. It's not perfect but it helps off load some of the dish cleaning grey water.

Gotta put it somewhere though, if not a tote designed for waste, what will you use?

flojet

I use the flojet waste pump and a 45 gallon flexible bladder from camping world. The bladder easily fits back into its original box so it doesn't take much storage room. The bladder rides pretty well in the back of the pickup.

Can we get the source of that FW bladder? Exactly what I've been looking for to bring more H2O while boondocking.

I use a tote now, but also would use the bucket into the toilet method as well to get a bit more out of the tanks.

Rhino,
Do you have any issues with the wheels? I have heard of some problems with the front wheels, but was not sure which brand.

I have been reading forum for awhile now, but this is first post. We are the proud owners of a 2016 2504S. Love it. I have been wondering if it would be possible to use the fresh water tank as an extra gray water tank. We have never used the fresh water tank ever and think we could live without it. Anyone think this might work??
Just wondering.

I have a Barker and Thetford brand. I have heard of issued with both. I have never had issues with them but I also do not tow it behind the truck to the dump. WHen I have heard of issues it was when it was being pulled. You need to go SLOW! or it will be BAD!

Would it be possible? Sure. I would not ever say never though.. Once you put gray in it you can never go back.. It will also need some serious re plumbing to make it all work. Welcome and congrats BTW!

If you did all the work re plumbing it, the resale value would drop.
In 12 years on various RV forums, I have never seen anyone do such a modification.

Not when buying a rolling tote tank is so much easier and cheaper.

Yeah, trade in would blow. You'd never be able to go back and so they may not even take the trade unless you paid them to take it! LOL

I have one of those collapsible bladders from CW. I don't think I would ever put it on the roof of my dually. I put it in the back between the 5th wheel & Tgate. I also lay a furniture blanket under it for protection against punctures. We boondock a lot so having that 50 gal one and another 50 gal one that goes in front of the 5th wheel is ideal. It is a hard container. I have another 50 gal one that replaces the hard one and is not the same as the one from CW. It does collapse into a neat package and comes with a 12V pump.
