extra warranty needed?
Hello everybody, we just bought a 2015 2516 Rockwood and noticed we can buy an extended lifetime warranty for $100. It covers frame, suspension, sub floor, exterior sidewall, and cabinet frames. Only good for defects. I know its cheap but not sure it would be really used. Your thoughts?

it's not an extended lifetime warranty.
it's an additional year of the factory warranty and well worth the $100!
unless it's different for FR popups versus their other types of trailers.
if it's truly lifetime for their popups, i'm surprised you're even asking!
you'll definitely be using it. NO RV comes from the factory perfect, even popups.

For the price I'd recommend getting it.

Sound good but parts and freight are only covered for the first 3 years (unless they mean only the cost to shipped the parts is not covered, not 100% clear the way it is written). For $100 it would not be a bad thing to have.

I was offered the same warranty for my A-Frame and took up FR on the offer. I consider it very inexpensive insurance for what it covers.

Absolutely!!!! That's pretty cheap insurance. When I bought my trailer had I not been able to buy the extended warranty it would have been a deal breaker. I always take the extensions on investments like vehicles. It has paid off huge more than once.

all the other FR trailers, that are not popups or A-frames, only get ONE year extra, not 3 years for parts and lifetime for other stuff.
and it costs $150.
consider yourself lucky that they're offering this. i don't think this was available a few years ago.
it might get changed to the same thing for other FR trailers.

Bikendan you should read the warranty. It only covers a few items. It is not a bumper to bumper like the extended 1 year.

Thats my worry, the defect versus normal wear. Who decides? I have added a hitch to pull a small boat and the frame is used and reinforced for the hitch. I see it as an improvement, they might not.lol

I skipped it on mine too.
From what I've gathered Forest River and other RV manufacturers aren't exactly bastions of excellent customer service. It sounds like getting 'normal' warranty issues resolved in a timely manner is hard enough.
And if you try to get warranty service other than the dealer you bought it from, you may as well pound sand.
I put the money towards actual insurance from Progressive $150/yr for a total loss coverage plan.

I had pretty good luck with FR on warranty.
My power winch failed after six months due to a defective gear that shattered. Selling dealer was in Denver, I was in UT. Took it to a FR dealer (who didn't sell popups but did sell other FR products) and they fixed it. I had to pay, but I submitted the bill to FR and a week later I had the full money.
Also had a water pump fail, and it was warrantied by the pump manufacture.

That's good info F5Moab.
I happen to live in Denver. Selling Dealer for me is Nolan's RV. That's where I got it. They were pretty adamant about not working on a camper if it wasn't purchased from them. No other Rockwood dealers nearby. There's a Flagstaff dealer (Roberts sales) but I've never been there.
They seem nice enough. Have only had my camper since Jan so haven't had a real chance to use it yet.

Roberts was my selling dealer and has been great. They worked with me and took a phone order and the trailer was ready when I picked it up two weeks later. No other dealer was helpful, even in person in Grand Junction.
But the dealers in GJ woiuld work on trailer not purchased if it was on a cash basis. And I believe most trailer places will do that; I would hope so. Since many trailers will break when you are hundreds of miles from home.

Yes I decided to get it. The dealership did the work on the hitch and beefing it all up . Been friends with the owner over 30 years so figure I am in pretty good shape for good service and they have an excellent reputation for service.
