Fan-tastic Fan Installation
Hey all,
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. I did a quick search but didn't see anything.
We're considering installing a Fan-Tastic fan in our 1640 pop up, it only has a vent right now. I'm wondering how the wiring will play out. Will it be pre-wired? Will I need to tap into the wiring for the lights? Or will I have to run wiring all the way to the fuse box, if so, how do I run the wiring all that way.
If any of you know how to do it or could direct me towards a tutorial, I would greatly appreciate it. I Googled allover the place and couldn't find any info/videos on how to do it.
I'm also still kinda wondering if it is worth the investment. We mostly camp in the Colorado mtns and it cools off pretty nicely at night but we're planning trips to the midwest and I'm guessing the fan will be pretty nice.
Any insight into this will also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Hey Katkt, thanks for the reply.
I copied and pasted your search into You Tube and while a lot of videos came up, none of them really documented how to install the fan.

Not a pop-up, but I found this from RV101:
Here's another one:
I didn't watch them fully, but hopefully they get you started.

Ahh, ok. So I'm out of ideas. I've never installed one.

Heck, I didn't even go to Youtube, I just punched that into google, with Youtube hanging on the end. I didn't click any of them, I just saw a plethora of stuff, and thought, "Shirley", one of them would work.

I've installed a couple of them, and at least the first video that Ependydad posted ( I didn't watch the second), has more than enough information to install a fan. As for the wiring, if you remove the inside trim ring (4 screws), you'll see if there is wiring already there or not (most likely there is)

I installed mine where a vent was.
5th wheel tho.... same principle.
Wired off a light that was 8" away or so.
Make sure you get three tubes of dicor self leveling caulk.
Plastic putty knife.
Heat gun.
Square drive drill bit.
Phillips bit.
Takes about an hour and a half.
