Favorite Seam Sealer

Hello All,

I just picked up my brand new 2014 2560g Rockwood pup. I posted the other day and got some good advice after doing camp driveway in the rain.

The tent dried for a week and then again with rain this am it's still leaking:/

The owners manual says use either paraffin or beeswax. How do you apply this to the seams just melt it and use a brush?

Also some people said use the Coleman seam sealer but others recommended seam grip or camp dry.

What is your favorite to use on your pup?

Thank you!

Just use the bar of wax at room temp and briskly rub it along the seams. The friction will melt it into the stitching where it is needed. Kind of like colouring with a big clear crayon. Then if you want you can rub it in deeper with an old cloth or fingers and add more if needed. Really simple but time consuming. Pays off in the end though. Also good to keep a vacuum handy to clean up little pieces of wax before they get mashed into other areas like mattress or cushions. Also can be used to remove dust from seam prior to wax or ensure seam is dry before you start.

Favorite Seam Sealer

I do inside to avoid having sticky wax on outside catching dust, pollen, fuzz and such. The thread should swell over time to stop moisture but if it hasn't yet it might never.
I did use seam sealer two units ago an was very disappointed. I went by manufacture instructions and the stuff was awful. Used it on outside and it left a shiny film on seam with a white tinge. To make it worse it didn't seal well at all. So now I do paraffin on inside. Works, stays hidden, easier to reach.
