Flagstaff 176ltd Power Lift issue

Hi all,

I figured I'd try my luck here since the forums are geared toward Forest River in general. I haven't had much luck on another forum.

Anyways, my power lift had been giving me issues for some time. It goes up okay, but the issue came in when trying to bring her down. It seems that the switch wouldn't power the motor to bring it down. In the past, to fix the issue, I'd momentarily switch it up and quickly switch it down and the lift would bring down the roof.

Now, that is not working. The motor goes up fine. It doesn't bring the roof back down. Here is what I've checked thus far.

  1. Battery- Perfect. Full power.
  2. Fuse- My fuse is right on the terminal. It's a 40amp fuse. I checked it by ensuring power reached the switch. It does.
  3. Connections- All connections on the switch and the limit switches are tight. The two wire junctions that have the bolt and nut joining the three wires are tight.
At those bolts and nuts, I don't have any inline fuses covered by electrical tape as some have stated.

From the switch to the upper limit switch, I have 12v power when going up. However, I get very minimal power to the lower limit switch when (attempting) going down. Could the switch be bad?

Is there anything else I can check?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Dale, that is what I am leaning towards as well. I've been researching replacement switches.

We just had this issue on our 2013 HW27KS and it was the switch.

Alright, issue solved.

In short, it was the switch. Thanks Dale! I found it on amazon for $13.55. I'm a Prime member so I got free two day shipping.

Here is the switch I bought and confirmed that it works. Same specs.
Amazon.com: Heavy Duty Bat Handle Momentary Toggle Switch - DPDT / (On) - Off - (On) : 30-050: Industrial & Scientific
