Full hookup question
Have a 2280 popup and have a question about the full hookup in campgrounds. Since I don't have a black water tank and just the drain for the sink, my question is do I need a special connection into the dump if I were to run a hose from the the "grey" water outlet into the dump connection at the campsite instead of collecting it into a 3 gallon container and dumping it in the restroom? Would I just stick the end of the hose into the pipe or what? Not sure.
Thanks in advance,
Frank

I’m not sure what it is called, but I have seen an adaptor that fits in the parks sewer fitting, and you can connect your sink drain hose to it. I need to get one for my pop up.

This is made by Camco and may work. Don't know if connected and don't have "P" trap what odor effect it would have.

Cool. Thanks for answers. My concern was if I could just stick the hose in the camp pipe or if it has to be a "sealed" connection. Thanks again. May have to check out the Camco item.

You don't want an open sewer connection right next to your trailer. Ya need a cap. And unless there's a P-trap in your plumbing you need a one-way check valve in the sewer connection. Garden hose is all ya need for grey water.

Not saying there isn't one but seems to me a check valve requires pressurization to open it for flow. The OP is just wanting something to assist with draining his grey water (not pressurized). He actually only needs something to cover the camp sewer port for his draining due to camp ground requirements. A donut and something to fill in the space around his hose will suffice. Did say that sewer smells may backup into the camper without a "P" trap of some sort. He doesn't have black water.

The answer will depend on where you go. In some site (sw) you are required to have a donut as pictured above. Other areas will require a screw in connector. Some a hose is fine.
I would think you dont just want the open connection not only outside but inside.
I am not up to speed with the grey setup for your unit but if there is a valve and you leave it close except for when dumping then you are fine. If not you can make a P trap connection either coming out of your trailer or before the sewer connection to leave things open.
Know that not just a P trap is needed but also some sort of vent to help it drain and vent above your camper or with a one way valve at the high point (above your sink drain or at minimum the same level as it).

Sounds like I may just want to drain the sink into my blue 5 gallon container and take it to the restrooms and dump it there. Sounds easier. No Ptrap in the tent camper so I would most likely end up with ordors in the camper that I most likely don't want! Thanks again.

I had a PUP with the same setup you have and only got hassled at one cg for having my sink draining into an open 5 gallon bucket.

The OP can just make a p trap with a loop in the hose. Simple.

Now B and B, that makes too much sense! lol. Yup, I'd get the cap pictured previously, and fashion your own 'trap' out of a loop in the hose.

When we had our popup, we let drain into a plastic container, then I would just dump it into the sewer drain when it was full.

X-2
This is the right choice. The hose will droop to the ground and create a "trap" in the line to block sewer odors. The "gravity feed pressure" from your sink will overcome the small lift required to push the draining water uphill thru the yellow hose connection.
Before you break camp, run plenty of water through the sink to flush out the hose, because food particles will collect in the low spot in the hose. You may also wish to connect your drain hose to a garden hose at home and pressure wash it.

That's all ya need to use a simple hose for one connection.

The sewer is full of black water, of course, even if it doesn't come from this hose. Some sort of P-trap or valve is needed if there's not one in the trailer/RV.

This is a Popup. No Black tank, only a garden hose connection on the side of the trailer that the sink drains from. We use to drain ours into a bucket and then water trees, then we had a tote and would dump before we headed home.
