That's exactly what it's for. I ran into something similar on mine last winter when the furnace wouldn't do anything but blow. Evidently I had moisture in the line. The furnace was the last appliance on the line and it seems the moisture got blown into the last bend before the line went into the floor and froze partially. It started working again when it warmed up a little. I ended up packing a small hair dryer after that and wrapped the exposed propane lines before I sold it.
