Great Trip to Florida

Hi everyone. We had a fantastic Spring Break trip to a beautiful state park in the Florida panhandle. We were a 5 minute bike ride to the beach. Hope everyone is having some great trips this Spring.

Glad you had a great trip! How did the screen room do with the bugs?

Thanks for all the comments. It was Topsail Resort in Santa Rosa Beach. We highly recommend it! Beautifully maintained park that is very quiet and the beach is gorgeous.

The screen room was great and kept out bugs although the overall bug situation was pretty mild when we were there. The screen room is actually a Dometic Cabana made for pop ups. It slips into the awning rail and is nice because it is all one piece. Unfortunately, the awning rail on our high wall pop up is a bit too high for the cabana to work exactly right. You can see in the picture that it has a big drop off from the trailer to the end of the cabana. Before our next trip, I'm going to try and make something to lift the end of the cabana by about 6 inches so it is more level.

Have fun Ragin! I'm curious about the bugs and heat in June. Is it super hot or do the shade and gulf breezes keep it comfortable? How bad are Mosquitos, flies, etc?

It's definitely warm but between the ocean breeze & shaded campsites, it's pleasant...especially morning & dusk.
Depending on type of weather during your visit, bugs can be a nuisance then other stays, not too bad...either way, we keep an arsenal with us!

And this is why I can't get any reservations!!!! HAHAHAHAH We love Top Sail and try to sneak down there about once a month for the weekend. Couldn't get in next month so the DW and I are going to try (never been) Fort Pickens over by Pensacola.

We made our 7 night reservation 9 months in advance! I was very surprised by how many folks came in for just one night. In the week we were there, we had 4 different next door neighbors.

Nice pictures. I would love to camp in Florida, seems like the jungle. Nice HW and screen room. Sand, surf and palms. What more do you need? Keep it up. Scott
