Grill
Thinking about replacing my rvq grill with a better grill. Want something that goes on the same bracket as the rvq and uses the same quick connect for the propane but can plumb a line if needed? Any suggestion?

That grill is a POS, and I can't stand it :-)
Last weekend when giving the tour to friends, they all paused when I showed them the grill. I said yeah it's junk, and each one was relieved that I said it before they did lol.
There is an upgrade of sorts that I'm considering. It looks to be slightly more functional, prettier and of course overpriced

What makes this a vast improvement is the sloped inside that actually attempts to collect drippings in the trap, unlike the rvq that just collects it. The grease trap has yet to collect anything in my rvq. This also has an added bonus of being a standalone grill which is pretty darn handy.

That's the same one I'm looking at but yes overpriced. I can get a full sized grill from HD for that price.

Weber Q1200 or Q2200. Convert to on board propane is easy. Forget the rack or mod if you must.

My favorite is the weberQ. Been using one for years. The simplicity of using house LP on the side rail keeps it at home as one less thing to pack.
I'll probably get the Olympian anyways and try it out

Another vote for the Weber Q series. Our Q 1200 is the best small grill we have ever used.

What exactly would I have to buy to connect a Weber Q1200 to the propane connection on the side of the camper?
Thanks,

Search on YouTube for "convert q1200". Shopping list and instructions in video. Print screen or clip.

Just did a Q100 last week. Works great. You'll need brass hex coupling 1/8" FNPT x 1/4"FNPT, high pressure hose 1/4" MNPT x 1/4" FNPT x whatever length hose you want, mines 5', brass quick disconnect male end. Ensure that the end going into the female coupling has a recess (counterbore) about .200" if it doesn't either it won't go into the coupling all the way or the gas won't flow. yOU'L be able to tell if it is the right one by looking at it. Don't forget the teflon tape and leak check it

I had the choice to get a rail mounted stove instead of the RVQ. So happy I got the stove instead.

Went ahead and ordered the grill. Should be here tomorrow and will give it a go this weekend. Will also test fit the thermostat and verify the new pizza bag will hold the BAL level chock and BAL chock :-)

The Olympian grill performed very well this weekend. Unfortunately the thermometer was broken but will call camco to replace it. Nice even heat and a massive cast plate below the grill for heat and searing drippings. Finally, the drip tray caught drips haha.
Best part, is the stock short lp hose reaches no problem unlike the silly rvq. It's no weber q, but it's well ahead of the rvq. Any manufacturer putting in the rvq should be ashamed of distributing it, clearly they aren't campers nor are the any type of outdoor cook.
IMHO, if you want simplicity of hooking up a capable and predictable grill to house lp, it's worth it, very much so.
If you love to grill, you have a better grill already.
If you are willing to compromise slightly reduced grilling performance in a portable grill (Weber Q as comparison) for having a grill on the rail using house lp, this is a vast improvement to rvq while still doing a very decent job cooking.
I'm pleased with this purchase and would recommend this grill to anyone wanting to bail on the rvq in favor of keeping a rail mount grill.
It's not perfect but gets the job done.
Cheers
Dan
