Heat reflecting covers over the canvas pop out.

I remember reading somewhere about these covers that you’re out on the canvas part if your pop outs. How well do they work? Does it improve the ac and do they block light in the mornings? Any down side to them?
Thanks.

Most people use PUGS, some use solar blankets. They help keep the bunk end tops clean from tree sap, bird poop, etc. They really help with keeping the bunk ends cooler when running the AC and keep them darker too. Doing the Reflectix mod in the tent end window areas also helps.

Cut sections of Reflectix to fit in the tent windows.

Reflectix is basically bubble wrap with foil on both sides. It's used to wrap home water heaters and can be found at any good hardware store or Lowes/Home Depot. You can see it in the window area below.

Are you using the Gizmo covers? I see some debate on buy them vs make your own. Personally if they fit perfectly I would rather buy them.

That pic is not our camper but when we did have our popup and then our hybrid we used the space blankets that we easily cut to fit. Yes the PUGS are made to fit your camper but do cost more. Here's a pic of our old hybrid with space blankets held on by clips I got at Home Depot. Never had a problem with them blowing off. I inserted the other pic because it showed the Reflectix better that the pic of mine.

Yes they do work.when DW and I owned our pup the first mod. was the popup gizmos and reflectix in the bunk ends.
Keep the interior about 20 to 25 degrees cooler and we live in the south so summers are very hot and humid plus keeps
the bunk end clean from dirt, tree sap,and bird poop. Here is their website POPUP GIZMOS.com. also

Just saw a post from this member, on RV.net.
The thread was about someone camping in Canada, that had an attempted breakin in their RV.

"I don't care were we have traveled to whether it was Canada or Mexico
Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson or the Glock brothers always go with us.
Have never had the TV or TT searched ever."

This guy is a real piece of work.

Aren't you taking a chance bringing a handgun into a foreign country let alone a campground?

Getting back to your question. Yes, PUGs (Pop-Up Gizmos) work very well. They make a big difference in keeping you cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Reflectix is sold in rolls. You can get them in Lowe's ,Home Depot, etc. It is easier to use cardboard to make templates for the window cut outs, but you don't have to. Just cut pieces of the reflectix to fit in between your screen and the zipped flap. It helps with the temperature regulation even more. Personally, I didn't use the reflectix inserts in the summer, but always used them when it was colder out. It then keeps the interior of the camper a lot warmer.

I consider the PUGs a must have for any Hybrid or PuP.

We had Pop Up Gizmos for ours for years and loved them. For the windows I just bought cheap reflective windshield reflectors from WallyWorld and folded them to fit. Worked great as an addition to the Pop Up Gizmos.
