Highwall low clearance- help?

Our new Flagstaff Highwall 2016 seems very low to the ground. It scrapes our driveway at the step and the bars at the back of the trailer. Anyone have same issue? What can we do?

How steep is your driveway?

Is it level when hooked up to your tow vehicle?

It scrapes when in tow. There are a few tricky transitions. The street slopes down, then there is a dip at the transitions to the sidewalk and then another transition to the start of our driveway. The back scrapes at the street/sidewalk transition and the stairs scrape on the driveway. Here are two pictures. Welcome all suggestions!!!

If your camper sits tongue high when hooked up it will reduce ground clearance in the rear. If so, you need to get the proper drop on your hitch.

Highwall low clearance- help?

What does it look like hooked up? I have a steep driveway to the road and until I got the right drop for my hitch I was tearing up my driveway. I will post a pick if I can of how steep it is so you get a idea. We leave tomorrow for a trip and I should have it hooked up tonight or early tomorrow. I would scrape going out and coming in. I don't have a HW but still the same principles are there.

It would also be helpful if you could start making your turn onto the street as soon as possible so that you minimize the transition from the driveway to the street. It is very important to have the correct drop on your hitch though!

The rear stabilizers always scraped with our highwall when we backed in. It was fine pulling out. We would lay some boards in the gutter that when the popup tires went on them would lift the back end enough so that the back stabilizers would clear. Was a pain but it worked for us.

Highwall low clearance- help?

I have a similar problem with our HW. The chains drag and the bottom of the tongue jack gets awfully close to the ground pulling out of our sloped driveway. I found it helped to drive out on an angle as soon as I cleared the garage. As far as correct hitch height, see attached photo and a great Curt video.

My Rockwood height is fine. The only thing I can think of is that your driveway is too steep. Not what you want to hear I am sure.

That is as bad as my driveway. I have to come and go on a big angle and creep. I still scrape the bottom. It is the best I can do unless I spend a small fortune on a new driveway.

Does it drag if you do not hook up the bars on the WD hitch?
