What does this on/off switch on the left do?

Hmmm. Where is that switch? I think it might be the water pump switch for your fresh water. I think that because the hot water switch should NOT be by the front door. It should be within the unit for safety.

You should have a master on/off switch by the door for lights and fan.

Yeah those switches are are located near the floor near the tv cabinet. I think your right it may be the water pump switch.

Go ahead and turn it on. It will not hurt it to run it dry for a bit as it is a self priming pump. You should hear it turn on. then kill it.

The left if the water pump. DONT run it dry you can burn up the pump. You only need to turn it on if you have water in the fresh tank and ur not connected to a water supply.

True Kinma. Do not run it long. It will not hurt to kick it on. But if you do not feel comfortable then just wait until you winterize to test it out.

I wouldn't run it dry either to prevent potential problems. In my unit the pump is located behind the rats nest of wires behind the converter.

I'm not sure how to do the yearly maintenance on the pump to clean the pre filter. It's a tight hole to work in and I don't like the thought of electrical so close to water.

Yeah pill billy FR decided to install the water filter in the same location as all the electric. Filter is right beside circuit n fuse panel.

I'm not so worried about the water filter. Behind the WFCO converter/distribution panel is the water pump. The pump has a pre filter that requires annual maintenance per the owner's manual. There are a zillion wires back there is a huge mess.

didnt read that pill billy thank you ill have to look into that pre filter. yeah i dont even use the filter i have a filter on the white hose and i use that same hose to fill the fresh tank. in the spring i plan on figuring out how to bypass the filter cause water fills up the canister and then sits untill i use the tank again.

Research "Pex" or "shark bite" tubing/parts. I'm afraid of my stock filter leaking all over the electronics. For now I have a one gallon zip lock bag with 2" slits down the side seams. I'm able to put the filter inside the bag and still zip it up while the hose sticks out of the sides.

If I decide to keep it for future use I may end up getting one of those battery operated basement water sensors and throw it in the bag. If I decide to remove it permanently I can the bag will capture the leaking water when I unscrew it.

I looked at a 296 a little more than a year ago before deciding on something else. That may very well be the pump switch, but I seem to recall the switch for the LED floor lighting in about that area.

I never installed the water filter when I had my HW256. I just figured if one uses an outside filter then why bother. Also. how the heck can you replace it. Looked like a small specialty part that would be hard to find = expensive. I wish it was not even there. Takes more antifreeze to fill it up.

Yup it's the water pump, filled the water tank, turned faucet with little water, turned on switch, faucet water is powerful.
