Ideas for bumper rack.

Hello everyone,

I have three of 6 gallon aquatainers and a 10 gallon barker waste tote that I would like to transport on the back bumper.

These are the 6 gallon units I have.

Ozark Trail Desert Patrol 6-Gal Water Jug: Outdoor Sports : Walmart.com

They are not heavy but are bulky and I think would transport best on the back bumper. I was thinking of bolting a plate behind the spare tire to take advantage of the tire mount. I would then bolt a platform to the bumper using U bolts or something. This would support most of the weight and the frame bolted to the tire mount would give me a back frame to bunjee cord up to and keep the items off the camper paint.

Anyone do something like this? Looking for some pictures or something.

Thanks,

Vin.

Ideas for bumper rack

My Son fabbed these for me to carry a couple 5 gallon gas cans. Similar could be done for your style.

Yikes...call me cautious but that 5-gallon plastic gas jug on the back bumper makes me cringe! (Five gallons of VERY explosive liquid!!)

Why not replace it with a military-type can?

Are you hauling full? I'm guessing the bumper can take the weight? water=8.3/gal. propane=4.2/gal. gasoline=6.1/gal. diesel=7.3/gal. plus container weight. JAT

I would check to see how much weight that back bumper can safely hold. They sure do not look very sturdy to me.
