Installed Pro Rac Bike Carrier

Just installed my new Pro Rac bike carrier on my pop up. Easy install and looking forward to being able to take the bikes along again. Will give it a practice fitting this week before our week long trip. Trying figure out the best way to secure them while in travel.

Nice. I have the same bike rack on my pop up and love it. It works great.

To me, it is the only bike rack I would use with a pop up.

You can make one. The fork mounts are available through Amazon.

How do you secure the rear wheels? We have a longer trip coming up and struggling with not having those secured. Was thinking of just using a ratchet strap across the top from one side to the other.

The way the strapping works with the pro rack is you run a strap from the seat post/frame junction to the pro rack. this strap prevents the rear from moving. the front forks are secured with the fork mounts.

It is very secure and you can drive as far as you want without any problems.

That is a great idea. Had I seen that before I bought the pro-rack, I probably would have built that. I love it.

Ok, I knew it strapped down like you describe. I put them up on a practice last night. Just seems strange to not have anything holding the rears down. But I haven't driven with them yet either. I didn't order the tire pads either.

Thanks

When I ordered mine it came with some clear adhesive film that they suggested you place on the roof. I never used them as I was not sure how they would hold up over the years and did not want the look of it beginning to peal.

If this is what they are selling, then your right to just say no to them.

An Amazon they offered an addition pad with a velcro strap the goes around the wheel. Looks like a rubber pad. Looks like something my wife could make from the craft store for a fraction of the cost.

I use Soft Loops Tie-Down Straps (see link) near the bottom bracket of
each bike then run a ratchet strap around the Pro-rack and through each
loop. It only takes a few minutes to set up or brake down and is a lot
simpler then using the eight strap spider web that pro-rack provides.

I also alternate the Fork mounts, one forward and the next backward, etc.
this keeps the handlebars from rubbing.
