Is the Rockwood Premier 2716G Shower drain vented?

I don't see the vent on the outside like I had with my 2007 Starcraft 2406 Pop Up's shower drain vent.




My main concern is that when using a garden hose to a full hookup site's sewer. I don't want the shower not draining or draining slow.

With my previous pop ups, if you didn't have a vent on the drain, it wouldn't drain or drained very slow, so I had to make a vent out of pipe to attach to the outside of the sink drain outlet. This isn't so easy with the shower drain be under the camper so I'm hoping that there is a vent that's just hidden somewhere. Obviously it can't vent inside or you would get sewer gas in the camper as the vent has to be after the trap. So I guess they could use a flexible hose and loop it back under the camper like they do for the fresh water tank.

Has anyone had problems with the shower not draining when using a long hose to the campsite's sewer??

For the sink, I just bought a 6 gallon tote to catch the sink water with a short hose that wouldn't need a vent.

I have a 2016 - 2516g Rockwood Premier (no visible vent) and the shower and sink both drain quickly, no issues over the past three years!

Need to open this thread up again as my shower didn't want to drain.

I put a 25' hose going straight out from the drain outlet as a test and the water just backed up in the shower pan, wouldn't drain. Without the hose, the shower drained fast.

If I keep hose level with the drain to a blue tote tank inlet, it drains but some water still stays pooled in the shower pan.

If the hose loops slightly above the drain outlet (but not the drain pipe coming out of the floor), won't drain at all again. I thought if it was vented, it would allow air to help push past the raised loop in the hose. But if that vent is tapped lower on the pipe, I guess that could be the problem.

I never ever had any type of draining problem with the 2007 Starcraft 2406 Pop Up shower drain and it had a visible side wall vent just as the highwall models do.

Even though another member said the vent was inside the cabinet between the shower wall and the front bunk, it still seems weird as that would allow sewer gas (vent after trap) to come inside the cabinet and stink up the camper. That's why the highwall models and the Starcraft camper had their vents on the exterior of the camper.

I really bought this model because it had the slide, more room, but #1 was the shower for my young daughter that my wife said it must have. If it's going to be difficult to use it seems quite useless. I thought and tried adding a vent of my own making, on the outlet but it's so low at that point, it doesn't help much.

I had to put a 90 degree hose adapter on my 25 gallon tote-n-stor tank's 'vent' (regular inlet was to high and wouldn't drain) with a short 2' hose but it's just hard to get at under the bunk weighing so much from the water. And if the ground is ever higher at that point, that wouldn't even work to drain the shower.

Any ideas?

Ok, found some of my issues as seen in this thread. The outlet is just to low. The outlet faces to the side as my Starcraft drain face straight down, so this is why the Starcraft drained OK into the tote and the Rockwood won't.

Still won't drain from the 25' hose just laying in the grass though. I'll mess around more with that. I am thinking that this trailer has a anti-siphon trap vent device but still isn't draining as I would expect if it had a standard exterior wall installed drain vent.

Without a hose going down hill the whole way the water in the hose sitting level will slow the shower from draining. Not enough head pressure.

I did this all the time with the Starcraft pop up and never an issue. There's at least 14" to 15" water column of head pressure. That should be more than enough pressure to push the water down the hose.

Ok, I did buy this as you may be right. I may not have enough slope for the length of the hose and the vent position (if it does use an anti-siphon trap vent device).

OK, finally mystery solved and it's design issues.

Used the sewer hose support for my 30' garden hose and the shower drained fine now, a bit slow but through a garden hose, makes sense.

Found the main problem, it's the drain is to low. My Stor-N-Go 25 gallon tank works either on the vent side with a 90 degree side inlet fitting, or on the fill side without the cap. Otherwise the hose is just to tall on top of the tank.

I can even put another loop resembling another trap from the ground up to the open fill hole of the tank and it still drains fine. This proves there is a Anti-Siphon Trap Vent Device in the section between the camper wall and the toilet. Otherwise the hose would never drain as I know from my other pop up campers kitchen sink drain where none are vented.

My concern is that they are no 'towable' portable tanks that fill any lower than the Tote-N-Stor except forcing a bottom fill on some design that leaves grey fill in the hose and no where to go. Only one model would work but has such bad reviews of it breaking badly and it's inflated price, I won't consider that.

I'm also concerned with the many septic areas on different campsites being taller than the drain as well. My campsite last time was higher in the rear than the front, which puts the septic fill higher than the drain on the front of the camper.

I do have plenty of sections of hoses to use with the blue tote. I guess I can just wheel it around until it's lower than the drain and empty it often so it's not a full 208 lbs trying to pull it around on 2 wheels. Thought about getting a 4 wheel tank but all of them have terrible reviews.

Just one of the hassles in getting the benefits out of a pop up.

I'm new here, but see you are quite active in the community and have the same PUP (2019 2716G) that I am really close to pulling the trigger on.

How are you liking it? Anything you wish you had done when you bought, or considered? I am brand new to the PUP world so any advice is appreciated!
