Just purchased a rockwood 1640 pop up. The roof seems to be leaking. I think it's coming in through these slightly raised lines.

Any ideas for fixing this?

Thanks
-Dave

Hi Dave,

Unless the bubble has a crack or split in it, then it should not be leaking. Most likely it is coming in along the edge where this material tucks under your roof ridges on the sides. You should do a complete caulking job of the roof to make sure you seal it up.

Chalk the any roof vents as well.

Vin,

Thanks Vin,
We sprayed the cracks with a squirt bottle so we could control where the water goes. It does seem to be getting in through the bubble lines. If you feel them, they feel rough.
I'm guessing there are small cracks in the fiberglass.
I'm just not sure how many there are.
I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue, and what they did about it?

To be honest I am not sure how they fix it. I would search the site for roof repair and check out what others have done.

I will venture to guess that people take the end caps off and remove the sides. They then lay a new sheet down and then reassemble.

Vin.

Careful, if that is a rubber epdm roof, the description says not to use it. I would check and make sure what type of roof I have before using that product.

I based it on what he said and by the looks of the roof in the picture he enclosed . :

and with that said ... there would be no rubber on top of fibreglass unless someone added it after the manufacturing . ( which by the picture did not happen ) Gelcoat , yes , but no rubber .
And , IMO , that surely does NOT look like EPDM black rubber roofing . Appears to be either textured ABS or fibreglass

IMHO it would appear to be an 'embossed' aluminum roof. I could be mistaken ?

That is fiberglass, just too thin and brittle to be used on RV's. They use the same material on many units up to the Georgetowns. It cracks easily and must be difficult to install be cause you see it rippled in corners and cutouts. It will crack and leak after it works for awhile. Best fix I've seen for it is a Dicor roof paint. Problem is will be difficult to clean in way of fasteners needing removal in the future. Haven't seen results of using this type of product but the leaks must be stopped regardless.

Checked the brochure, by golly my 2010 pup does have a fiberglass vacuum, bonded roof. And here I thought it was something else all these years.

Thanks for the input.
I'll probably try to seal it in the next few weeks.
Right now its in the garage, so I'm not in a rush.
