Made a big mistake this weekend. ..

This weekend I was camping with my family. I walked into my camper and sat on the cover to my shower / toilet combo. The cover caved in and broke at the point where it attches to the back hindge. I tried to glue it back together, but I fear it won't hold up when I attach it back to the hinge. I presume my only option would be to go somewhere like Lowe's or Home Depot and see if I can order something from their kitchen department. I also presume Rockwood doesn't sell replacement covers. Does anyone one have any suggestions?

I'd be willing to bet you haven't been the first to do that..

Who makes your toilet? You might be able to contact Dometic or Thetford for a replacement.

The toilet is made by Thetford. I suppose I could try and contact them.

If you are talking about the laminated partical board top/cover that covers the entire toilet/shower, then yes, you "might" be able to order it from FR. Chances are they are not going to have the same laminate pattern to match tho. They may be able to give you the laminate patten mfg name and code number so you could have one made thru Lowe's/HD or a cabinet shop. Lowe's/HD may or may not be able to order it for you, depending on their local top shop. Another option is to make or have one made of plywood, which would hold up better to being used as a seat.

Good Luck.

On more question. Did they offer more than on laminate style each year?

I think MOD Guy understood the issue far better than I did and has sent you on the right path.

I'd be VERY surprised if FR didn't have what you needed. Call FR and get a part number, and then give that number to a dealer. They have a dealer-only website that they can order it from.

You can order parts directly from FR. I ordered replacement wheel well
skirt a couple years ago.
You need model and vin of your trailer when you call.

Good Luck!

If I call my local dealer would they be able to get the part # from Rockwood? I need to take it in any way to have it winterized.

probably not. In PUP's they tend to use the same laminate style for multiple years, as opposed to TT which often have changes mid-year.

Worst case scenario - it is not going to be a perfect match. Talk with your dealer. Odds are good they can source it for you, probably from whoever made it for FR back in the day.

We have learned that those suppliers are often more accommodating than the FR anyway. We had a custom drawer made for our new trailer, it was an easy process (dealer called them, told them what we wanted), is a perfect match and was very reasonable.

Seems like this may be an opportunity to upgrade to a stronger cover, maybe using 1x6 cedar so you can use it as a seat.

I don't think the cover was ever meant to be a seat. Besides the cover breaking away from the rear hinge two blocks that were mounted on the side where the cover rests on broke off. I was able to reattach them by putting in a slightly longer screw. Would it be cheaper to get the part directly from Rockwood? Does anyone have their phone #? I couldn't find it on their website.

do you have a picture of the cover? Odds are it would be cheapest to fabricate something on your own that would be more durable.

However, I would guess that the part might be cheaper from Rockwood direct. Their customer service webpage directs you to go through the dealer though...

Looking at this website, I'd say it could be upgraded strong enough to take weight. Bet it just needed a cross support in the front to keep it from cracking.

When I did damage Prime Time refered me to the dealer. May be cheaper to find a local reputable cabinet maker.
