Manual Lift Problem

We just bought a 1993 Rockwood. It was setup when we looked at it. It cranked down with no problem. When we got it home and went to open it only the front wanted to crank open about 8-10 inches. The back will not crank open at all. We have been able to manually get the back up about 8-10. Nothing seems to be broke and the chain appears to be on and tight. We did notice when we try to force-crank past the 8-10 inches the body of the camper, on the side by the back bumper, above the stabilizer bulges out. It looks like the 'tube' (lack of a better word) coming off the back chain system in the back of the camper is what is causer the bulge. It looks like when we crack it, it goes out instead of up to push it up. Any ideas on what the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks for any help.

We are still working on it. The floor in the back is rotten and the lift has come lose from the floor. We have manually gotten the top up and braced. Our next step is to replace the floor and re-attach the lift to the floor...and hope it works. ) Thanks for asking and any suggestions are appreciated.
