Need Caulking?

The trim piece on the side of the roof that runs the length of the top on both sides of my popup looks like it needs some attention. Do I just caulk over this or should I try to remove it all then caulk? The condition is the same on both sides spanning the whole length.

When redoing the caulking, I did remove the old caulk before doing any new caulk. The top that you are asking about though, I just used eterna bond tape. put it right over the trim piece, caulk and all. I also used eternabond around the air vent as well. great stuff.

It's a butyl type tape that is under the trim piece. If like mine was there is still plenty of sealant under that white trim piece. If you want you could add some Dicor self leveling to it, or go with the Eternabond tape.

I carefully cleaned out the exposed old stuff with a sharp, cheap, wood chisel. Then wiped down with paint thinner, then ran a bead of Geocel Proflex. If you let that cure for a week and then cover it with Eternabond tape, you won't need to think about it again, ever.
