new to the forum's

Hey guys, me and my wife recently purchased a rockwood premier 2516g. So far we love it but our truck squats a bit when hooked up, are airbags the best answer? We have a 2000 toyota tundra

If the trailer weight is well within your truck's specs, then maybe you need a different stinger? Since one truck is taller than the other, I have to use different ones when towing my trailer with the F150 versus the Nisaan Titan. Otherwise you might want to consider a getting a weight distributor hitch.

So use like a lower hitch, I'm assuming stinger is a hitch haha, I'm pretty new to towing anything sorry.

Sorry....I mean the ball mount...

1. Measure from the ground to the top of the hitch
2. Measure from the ground to the (inside) top of the trailer coupler, when level
3. Subtract the height of the hitch ball (most are 2-1/2"-3" high) from the coupler measurement

The difference in the two measurements is the amount of ball mount "rise" or "drop" required.

In my case, the trailer tongue was higher than the ball mount on one truck to the other, thereby requiring a different ball mount to be used....so each vehicle has their own ball mount set up when towing the trailer...hope this helps?

The trick with that is to try to keep the trailer fairly level also.

If you are headed out this weekend, we are going to willow beach on the other side of the dam. Nice clean CG. Should be low 70's- always looking for more people to relax with!

Tundras tend to have a very soft ride. My buddy that has one, added air bags before he ever thought of getting a TT. Just adding a little weight in the bed of the truck made the truck sag.

I have an 11 tundra also. It does squat just a bit but my goal is level towing.

Yes, it is good to run into fellow campers. Like looking at mods on similar trailers.

There is also a product called Timbrens. Does some what the same as an airbag, but is an aircell. I think they are cheaper than airbags, and those that have them seem to like them.

hard to believe that a popup could make a 1/2 ton truck's rear squat.
that's got to be a really soft suspension.
i put my Roo 23SS's tongue on the Avalanche's receiver, without the WDH and i barely got any squat. and its tongue weight is over 500lbs.

Is your picture upside down? Not sure since my eyes are tired and my contacts are dry so it's hard to focus.

Did you end up exchanging the pic? All the pics in the tread looks OK now.

I had trouble with this site flipping one of my pics too but then I think I took the pic with the phone camera turned sideway originally.

I have a Rockwood High Wall and tow it with my wife's Kia Sedona mini Van. We use a weight distributing hitch and sway control bar and it all tows level and fine. With the hitch we only have inches from the ground to start with anyway. It is all well within specs for the vehicle, just not alot to spare. Good towing! Scott

Air bags are great for other reasons as well as raising the vehicle an inch or two with a load. If you do any washboard roads, they help to smooth out the rear end and keep it from trying to dog track.
My silverado will drop exactly 1 inch when I attach my trailer. But the 228BH has a lot of trailer weight due to the bike rack, dual batteries and dual propane tanks.

HI ben-jamin

Just wondering if you resolved your "squat" issue? What worked?
