Newbie needs help

Being that you have "Green Bean" status.....lets cover some things you should never do.

1. Never use your stabilizer jacks to level your trailer.......you want to use something like a Bal Leveler........this acts like a chock and will allow you to level the camper from side to side. Using the stabilizer jacks will cause your box to twist and nothing will seem to work right. The first thing will be that the screen door will give you a fit trying to get it in and secured in place.

2. Never run the refrigerator in more than one mode........this can kill the control in a rapid fashion....ie. 12VDC and 115VAC or 115VAC and propane at the same time.

What model do you have in your pop up?

It may be a gas only unit and uses the gas valve on the outside access to the water heater to turn the unit on and off.

I can't believe the dealer told you that your TV (tow vehicle) would charge the battery in half an hour. Being an RV dealer they should know better than that.

Most popups can have a two battery setup. If you're handy, you can easily do it yourself.

Another suggestion is to use YouTube for finding helpful videos.

Your furnace is the biggest power drain on the battery. The fridge, lights and water pump are minor drains.

If you don't need to run the a/c, a Honda 2000i will run everything else and weighs much less than the 3000i model.

Suggest you Google "the 12 Volt Side of Life"
Should be required reading for all newbies.

The 2000i is also like $1500 cheaper than the 3000i!

I sorry, I was just trying to help Diana as well. I was wondering what make and model number fridge and water heater was in her 2017 2516g. There is no sure way to tell (without looking) what make and model appliance was installed the 2017 models.

I looked again and other than a reference to "Suburban" for her water heater (there are 10 or so different models); and I saw nothing regarding her fridge.

Hi all - our pup is being stored at our friends house; we are going to check things out on it tomorrow. Not sure what kind of water heater we have - our manual (which we have here at home) says it's a Suburban but lists several differnet models - all "direct spark ignition gas water heaters" without saying which model number we actually have installed! So we'll open up that outside door to check tomorrow. As far as the fridge, like Trevor said, it can be run off of 12v, AC or propane (there is nothing in our info package as to what brand the fridge is tho so I can't tell you that from the manuals)... Just as a funny aside, our manual to the water heater says to make sure to turn on the switch but does not say anywhere the switch actually is!!! Darn manuals! Ha. Again, you guys are all so helpful with your tips/advice - thanks!

It will be inside somewhere.....it turns red when you first turn it on until the burner ignites. On my 2516G it is located across from the fridge area below the fold down couch.

As a 2516G owner..........I know it's not going to be 1 of 10.......it's going to be more than likely the same as what I have myself. Thats why I'm trying to assist them because I am familiar with it. If the others are 2516G owners, by all means share your experience.

Trevor43 I agree with you.

Been following this post the past few days. DianaWayneScott really only needs one person helping them out, someone with the same camper. They are all ready having problems and they don't need more questions than answers. Just my 2 cents
