The nearest HW296 I could locate was in MD. Close to 1,000 miles away. That was too far for me to go. I had to place an order for it. Hence I am in the position I am.

I traveled to get mine as well. I went from Memphis to Chicago but it saved me around $7000.00 and dw and I got a nice vacation and our first campingtrip on Lake Michigan.

My wardrobe sits above the counter top as well. As far as the height of the ceiling I did have to stop and get a step stool for dw so she could reach the ac controls. Lol the ceiling is high so you do not get a cramped feeling at all.

Thanks for all the congrats on our new PuP. Setting it up yesterday I started to look through all the literature and brochures. So far I noticed two things; one being the right rear stabilizer leg is bent. It was very difficult to turn the provided wrench to open the stabilizer to make the base make contact with the ground. The stabilizer base isn't even level when it makes contact with the ground. I think the stabilizer was put on incorrectly. The second thing is the Fantastic Fan works fine, but it doesn't seem to work when I turn the overhead light switch to the off position. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work from turning it on from the actual fan switch. I could be doing something wrong, but I cant imagine you would have to turn the light switch on, manually go around and turn off all the lights to have the fan work while sleeping. I can't wait until I get home tonight to play around with it some more.

are you talking about the master switch that turns off all the lights? yes the fan is on it. that is a master switch to ensure those items are off or remain off when you lower the roof. that way you have nothing on when the camper is closed. it is a safety feature.
we use the individual light switches while camping, not a issue at all as we usually only have one or two lights on at a time anyways.
Nice unit, have many nice trips in it.

galsofescape i have a hw276 but im sure the switch is the same it sounds like. yes that switch is a master power switch that kills power to everything,(well almost) my fan, lights and water pump and the inverter are turned on or off by this switch, but the radio and fridge are not.

Kingman, I do not think my water pump is on that switch, will have to see. Would not be to surprised if it was, but am surprised that your converter is. mine is definitely not on that master switch as the converter charges the battery when I am home, closed up but plugged into shore power.

Right. If it is the switch on the stereo cabinet then it is a master switch to kill all lights and the fan. It is a safety issue as was said.
Yes. You need to turnoff all the lights manually if you want the fan running. On my old pop up, the lights would actually dim as I put more lights on such as bunk ends and such. Those suckers draw lots of power. I should think about the LED mod.
Sounds like your unit is fine other than the stabilizer jack. Wonder if it got screwed up during delivery and the guy caught it on something and bent it. No worries. Should not cost you that much to replace it.
Tactical. Can you do me a favor? Can you measure the space between the tires? I want to pre-order some BAL X chocks to stop the rocking and need to know the distance so I can get the right ones. Thx.
Vin.

Ok. great. One last pain in the ass question. How wide is the door?
The new HW's no longer have the large sliding front bin. I have a large Rubbermaid bin that I want to use in its place. Wondering if it will fit thru the door.
Rubbermaid 54 gal. Roughneck Hi-Top Tote-FG3A05H2MICBL at The Home Depot
Hoping to place it right in front of the couch. Two would be fantastic if I could fit it. That way all MY stuff will be in the bins and the inside storage can be used for HER stuff.
Vin.

Awesome. That helps huge.
Not liking the 21" door opening. That is gonna be tight. I might have to get a smaller tote. What was the measure of the second picture? Was that the door also? Why does it look wider or am I just having a hard time seeing where the black edge is.
2.5" wheel space tells me what I can fit in there for wheel chocks.
Thanks again buddy.
Vin.
