For some reason in the back of my mind when we owned a pop we were cautioned not to use a cover. Something about they are built different than campers and needed to be able to breath. Any thoughts?
Depends on the manufacturer. What I recall was if you were going to cover - get a legitimate and good cover that can breathe. Do not use a tarp or anything that won't breathe.

Since it is a new camper, check with the dealer and see if the will take your A/C as a trade on a low profile unit like the Duo Therm Penguin, which is 9 1/2" high. Sounds like that would give you the clearance you need.

Wouldn't be cheap, but neither is storage. May be the best idea yet.....
