I flip the switch to raise the top and it moves about a inch and then loud clank clank noise from the switch area motor. Any ideas what my problem is? And dang it the hand crank is under the matress inside

I had the same problem with my 625D.

It turned out that the motor mounting bolts were loose and the gears where slipping causing the noise.

I pushed the motor over so the gears were tight together and tightened the bolts. That fixed it for me.

Battery charged yes and the motor was loose I tightend the motor and that made the manual crank work but now I have NO power to the elect crank. I checked the 20 amp fuse behind the propane tank and checked the breakers. I'm stumped

Look for fuses near the motor. Also when tightening the motor back down you may have pinched a wire or pulled a plug loose. Look at the motor and see if you see anything.

No all fuses are ok and no wires pinched or unplugged. I replaced the circut breaker today with a new one and still no power. I think I broke the motor. Anyone know where to purchase just the motor from or have the one I have rebuilt?

Loosen the motor back up and see if it moves when you supply power, you might be slightly off on your roof and causing the motor to stop due to not enough power to push past the alignment issue. Or you could have bolted it in to tight and the gears are binding. Also look for a breaker button on the motor.

even with the big motors we use at work they are hardly worth rewinding I would look into a new one. look at the spec plate and find the motor through a motor supply house, it will be cheaper than through the dealer. They might even be able to put you into a stronger motor for same or not much more money.

check for power at the motor when you flip the switch, you could have burned up a switch, connection, or wire. Motors will pull (in theory) and infinite amount of power to turn, that is until you beak the weakest link (i.e. fuses in a best case scenario).

Check the wires to the switch. So little slack in mine that I could see a wire or contact breaking off at the switch.

Check your model and serial number as it might have been recalled.

CAREFREE POWERWINCH P55000 Recall - ID 68366

2008 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD RECALL FOR EQUIPMENT, MECHANICAL, WINCH PROBLEM #07V514000

Here is the manual with several warnings about that motor.

http://www.popupportal.com/MGalleryItem.php?id=3124

here is the parts manual and you may be able to cross reference the actual motor to another manufacturer and reassemble it yourself if you are handy.

Parts Manual For Powerwinch P55000 Downloadables

Good luck.

PS - 300 bucks is not all that expensive from the looks of the motor assembly.
Just my opinion on that; but I would definitely check out that recall as you may have gotten a recalled unit installed by mistake.

WOO HOO! My lift motor works again!!! If anyone has a problem with their lift motor take it or send it to these people. Hutcherson Auto Electric 701 S. 50th St. Tampa Florida 813-247-4365. I took my motor to them. They hooked it up and not working. They took it apart and found the simple problem and put it back together for 18.00 I am so happy!!!
aperantly since the motor was loose at first the bottom magnet things got out of wac. These people are great they work on alternators starters and all kind of motors for a great price.
