Pup closed up: fridge door closed or cracked open?
We just bought our first 2015 1940LTD pop-up a little over a year ago. Since then I've kept the fridge door cracked open when it is folded and closed up. This makes it a pain to start it cooling down because I either have to wait until camp or try to contort myself to reach in and close it.
I haven't wanted to risk mold/mildew but am I too cautious? Could it stay closed during the summer when it is collapsed or am I asking for trouble?
Help a newbie out!

make sure it is dry by using a towel to dry it out then run a fan into the open fridge and let it fully dry out... then put an opened box (pull off the top) of Arm and Hammer baking soda in the box before you close it after you get home

Keep it closed during the camping season and prop it open during winter storage.

I kept mine propped open all times. When you break camp there is a lot of moisture in the fins that a towel won't get out. Rather slide in sideways to latch it than risk smell of mold, mildew later. I have also started using Damp Rid in the A frame if it will be closed for a prolonged period. Sponge in cushions will suck up moisture if left to itself.

I'm with Dobe. Keep it open when not in use. We did that with our Coleman. Went 20 yrs with no mold issues. Better to be safe than sorry. You'll like replacing the fridge a LOT less than getting in to open/close the door.

I'm the guy who always plugs in between trips...so I kept them closed. Normally, during season, we were camping every other week or two, so it was convenient. Winter, always open. PUP to HTT did the same.

Back when we had our PUP, we cranked the top up a few inches to allow for the door to be opened, Then crawled in to close fridge. I left the switch set to AC and just needed to plug in to start fridge.

my 2016 has a toggle on the door with 2 positions, locked, and propped open 1/4 inch
when its in the garage its propped open 1/4 inch, I can raise the roof and crawl in and close it so i can pre-chill the fridge
When i do that I unplug the fridge from the outlet on the PUP and run an extension cord, as I have my battery on a maintainer and don't need the converter kicking on putting power to the stereo and such.

Ours has the latch builtin the door latch to prop open. Little while back my son turned fridge off but did not prop open and had some mildew and smell.

I have had good luck by drying the fridge with a towel, and then loosely wad up some newspaper inside on each shelf and the freezer. Then close the door.
Never had a problem, because the paper will absorb any remaining moisture.

Since 1970 we have left our doors open when no in use and have no issues at all with mold or odor. Mold & mildew need food and moisture to grow, if you eliminate these two things, you won't have a problem. But, to be sure we have always left our doors open to get good circulation plus an open box of baking soda.

I have plans to dry it out and add the box of arm & hammer when we store it between trips but because of humidity level here in the Houston area (and the roaches that could carry away a VW ) is it still a good idea to leave the fridge door open?

I always left our open. I blocked it open with something and never had any problems.

I have had mine put away in my garage in Florida for 2 months now( too hot to camp even with AC) you got me thinking on the roaches, I wonder what it will be like when i open it up for our next trip in December
