PUP Security

Hi all.

My wife and I just picked up our very first pop up. I am looking into some security features. I am leaning toward a wheel lock; but have seen some of the coupler locks as well.

I would appreciate any input you have on either of these two means.

I think the best way is just put a golf ball in when you disconnect, and then lock it back up with a lock that can not be cut off. pretty cheap and easy.

We use a coupler lock on our Hardside, but also have a hitch and pin lock (came as a set, all keyed the same). We also have a locking battery clamp to prevent it from being stolen.

My co-worker and her spouse were on their way to pick up their boat from storage, stopped and ate lunch. Came out to their truck and discovered someone stole their ball mount and shank from their truck receiver.

We rarely feel theft will occur in a campground. The stories I have heard, have occurred in owner driveways/yards, storage facilities and city streets.

Locks may not stop a theft, but they certainly can deter the thought. I think a thief would more likely bypass a rig that appears to have locks and move on to one without.

Happy camping!

Thanks for the replies and ideas!

We ended up with a coupler lock and did pick up the hitch pin locks. We bought a long cable to wind through the LP tank and around the battery box. I agree that in CG's we don't feel like there will be theft and even where we live theft is not a common occurrence; but the $50 we spent on deterrence is a nice piece of mind.

I am going to look in to the battery clamp.

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

Happy Camping!
