Quiet down electric lift

Hi All,

The electric lift (Goshin?) in my HW27KS sounds like a horribly setup small block chevy starter, only louder. It looks to have horrible gear mesh and wines like no one's business. I see significant wear on the teeth, which bothers me.

Anyone know if it is possible to adjust the mesh on the motor to winch drum contact? I didnt see a way to do it and I'm worried that it will fail in the not too distant future if I dont fix that.

Really cant help with the gear wear but my gear train is mounted on a solid bracket but maybe yours has shims for adjustment .but as for the noise i have a new 2018 power up / down rockwood and that sucker is as loud as the 8000lb warn winch on the front of my jeep.as is others that i have heard , remember it is a winch.but you could have some extra noise if there is a gear or bearing problem.

Yeah, I didnt see any adjustments, maybe I will try a shim for better engagement.

Mine is louder than a cheap perm mag Chinese winch.

All of the ones that I have seen have been obnoxiously loud. They recommend not to grease them (strange). I did anyway, did not think it could hurt. If you do, be careful around the clutch side, don't want any oil on that (I found out). I also put a disconnect on mine. Came out one morning to find the winch spinning away. For some unknown reason it had activated and tried to raise the roof. Destroyed the winch, bent the mounting plate, and broke the cable. I would have assumed the limit switch or fuse would have turned it off, but did not.

Yeah, I threw a little bit of Mobile One Synth on the winch side, didnt help.

It really looks like a gear engagement issue. I'll just have to keep an eye on the wear on them.

And thanks for the warning on the winch going off on it's own. I'll put in a disconnect switch myself.
