Rear toy hauler popup

My neighbor's kid has taken an old popup, welded it to the front of a toy hauler to make a rear tow hauler popup. I Think it needs another axle. How say you?

She is a jewel!

Now he just needs to figure out how to get out of the garage man door and go thru the gate into the backyard.

I see those all the time around here. Unless he is hauling balloons, then I would say it needs another axle.

It's a four car garage and there is another man door to the backyard closer to the main house.

That's not the problem. I think that pup would sway terribly on the highway, even with a few ATVs on the rear.

You should be a good neighbor and explain towing 101.

I'm not, I mind my own business. But I did mention it looked an axle short.

I’m not an engineer and know nothing about trailer dynamics but I don’t understand how you can determine, without knowing the loaded, unloaded, and hitch weights, that the trailer will be unstable with a single axle. Will someone, who is knowledgeable about this, please inform those of us who are less knowledgeable or as a previous poster stated “explain towing 101”.

The dimple fact is that it is not possible to tell accurately but the godl is to mostly balance the load with approximately 10% of the weight on the hitch. It is virtually impossible to achieve that with a trailer loaded like this.

Start with the fact that they started with a trailer that had an axle placed so that the trailer would be balanced properly with a normal load and add a full popup load in front of the axle, it is inconceivable that enough weight could be added behind the axle to balance the load and not overload the axle / tires under the loading!

Not physically possible!

Most all of the popup's weight is in front of the axle, nearly all of the weight of the toy is going to be behind the axle.

That's a lot of weight not directly over a supporting axle.

It should be roughly 60-70% in front and 30-40% behind.

10% of the total weight needs to be on the tung. Teater tauter effect. There is a tow dolley with a wheel.
Idaho Tote Dolly – Tow your atv, motorcycle, golf cart behind your rv.

Some states that do not allow for pulling double trailers do consider that a trailer in itself and would be illegal.

Maybe I'm the odd one... I disagree. 10% is a minimum tongue weight. If his tow vehicle can handle the tongue weight, no problem. A semi has more than 10% tongue weight..... An accident waiting to happen? Why?

Of course I retract it all if there is an S10 anywhere around.

Acording to the ad, in my trailer life it is not considered a 2nd trailer because it is connected directly to trailer 1, look them up and read about it.
