Rockwood 2318G air conditioner not staying cold

I just purchased a 2010 rockwood 2318G pop up camper that was only camped in three times. I camped last weekend and was not happy with the Air conditioners performance and it wasn't really even hot. I upgraded from a 2001 Jayco pop up that to this day the A/C was so cold when you walked inside frost would form on your ears!!! This Rockwood A/C unit never appeared to have the compressor running any longer a few minutes. When the compressor was running it was plenty cold, with the coldest setting knob turn to it once the compressor turned off it seamed not to wanna come back on, and camper got stuffy... Any ideas as to my possible problem or am I just used to my OLD JAYCO ice maker!!! lol

Easy things to check first would be to check the condenser coils to see if they are clean so that air can flow thru them. A cleaning with a water hose will do it. Just don't get too close where you can bend or layover the fins or use to much pressure. Next, check to see if the condenser fan is running when the unit starts, should run all the time to cool the condenser. If they prove to be ok, then you will need a tech to look at it, may be low on freon or some other part failed.
Good Luck.
