we have a new Rockwood HW296 on order and would like to know if the height of 6' includes the air conditioner, we would like to store it in our garage that has standard 7' doors
im sure it does. I had same question when we bought our camper so I measured to the top of camper from ground the climbed up and measure the A/C unit. it was what the factory said the height was with the A/C unit
The a/c adds close to a foot above the 6' height that Rockwood lists for the 296. We had to get a low profile unit to get ours into the garage without deflating tires. I did get it in by letting air out once or twice. I think it is 7' 2" opening for my garage.
we have sold our travel trailer so now we have room to store under the shed we bought for the TT, that gives us room to open up at home under cover when we want to, thanks everyone for the info about the height
Hey lumpy73, where did you get your low profile a/c unit at and how much did it taake off the height? Im in the sme boat with the height isssue. Have a hw276 on order and just found out im about 3" too tall to fit in the garage
It's a Dometic Penguin low profile unit. We were concerned that it might not cool as well as the larger stock unit but I would say that it works even better. Ours was installed in Indiana but any of the big camper shops should be able to get it.
We have the HW276 and we store it in the garage. Due to the ac I let air out of the tires to lower it an inch, back it in, then refill the tires with my air compressor.
