Roof caulking
Hi folks
I am curious what is the best caulking to use in the event that I find I need to replace it on my PUP. I looked at what I have it is not the typical White Dicor type caulking on other rigs. Mine is closer to clear. A bit yellowed.
I have a rockwood premier which has a tan/black color scheme.
Thanks.

I would use Eternabond tape instead of chalking. I ran a strip of tape along both edges of the roof on my new HW296. Once it is on your all set. You do not have to worry about the chalk shrinking and causing a leak before you realize it. I wanted to prevent the leak before it ever happened.
I used a 2" wide roll. I basically wanted 1" on the metal rail along the edge and 1" on the roof itself for proper coverage. I am very pleased with how it came out.
Vin.

I think we have a similar color scheme. White would look out of place for us.

Do you have the rough surface roof? I contacted eternabond last year and they suggested that the tape will not adhere will to the rough surface roofs that are found on many popup trailer. Want to say the roof is like pebbles, but not quite that rough.

Sorry for the late reply everyone.
I used black color as I have a tan/black color scheme on the trailer.
I do have a bumpy roof and did not contact eternabond prior to using it so your comments do give me pause as I understand this stuff is a pain to remove.
After working with the tape, I feel it will adhare fine on my bumpy rockwood roof. The bumps are not all that deep and the eternabond tape is actually quite thick with adhesive. When you roll the tape with a wallpaper edge roller, you can see the adhesive filling in the valleys and adhering. The adhesive is so thick that it is spongy to the touch. You will also notice that it may ooze out the sides as well. This tape is great stuff and very sticky. I would be shocked if I have any problems with it.
I will keep the warning in mind though and keep an eye on it. Thanks for mentioning it to us.
Vin.
