Safety Brake Disconnect

My daughter tripped over it and pulled it out and it wound up shorting out. When I replace it, will I need to do something to the brakes (to get them freed up). I assume they are in the brake position because I had my camper plugged into a 15 amp house outlet. Also, does anyone know where the safety switch is on these things, my ceiling lights aren't coming on.

Thanks in advance

You need to push the end of the cable back into the break away switch mounted on the tongue or pin box of the trailer. This will kill your battery in no time and also possibly burn out the brake magnets.

I would pull off the battery negative cable until such time you can get things fixed.

It was tripped overnight (she didn't tell me she did it), so I am sure that the brake magnets are likely cooked, as is the brake away switch. I called the local Rockwood dealer and they told me that they have the brake away switch in stock. I was wondering if anyone knew what size the brake magnets are, because I can get them online for 1/4 of the price, that I can get them from the Rockwood dealer (less than $20).

What size brakes do you have? I would guess 10" but not sure of your trailer model? The magnets are sold by size of brakes, for example:
10" at Amazon are $19.50 a set, 12" at Amazon are $25.00 a set.

If you did toast the magnets and need to replace them get four new inside seals as well.

Hw258 but it's a single axle (I have seen 258 double axle as well). I think it is 14", if it goes by wheel size, it should be pretty easy

They go by brake drum size. I know on mine it was a 10" x 1 3/4" brake assembly. But I have a 228BH. Safest bet is to pull a wheel and measure the drum diameter.
The axle should be stamped with manufacturer and is either AL-KO or Dexter.
