Salute to the Masters of Under-Engineering

(Hint. That would be FR)

So I was investigating an apparent mis-alignment on the galley drawers on the pop-up. The drawer fronts did not register correctly, almost seemed as if the back mounting was lower than the front. Upon removing the drawers I found that I was correct.

The back of the slides for the two drawers are stapled to a box of 1/2 X, which is itself stapled together, naturally.
The box is, I mean WAS, held to the bottom of the countertop by means of two 1/2 in wide plastic strips. That is plastic as in NOT wood or metal. No screws or glue of any kind.

Naturally the plastic strips were not up to the task.

Sigh.

Should be a pic of my fix (2-sided tape, gorilla tape, aluminum L)
a pic of the bottom right side of the supporting frame rotated 90 deg clockwise,
and a pic of the original plastic strap

We have found similar examples on our rockwood, especially in the bunks and the benches of the galley. I have added a lot of wood to our camper to stiffen it up.

Lol, you cannot unsee the unseen. You violated the new RV purchase rule. You are not supposed to look behind the curtain to see the wizard.

True, Crunch, but when the DW says the drawers, etc, are broken one must buck up and take a peek at the innards, so to speak.

Since both plastic straps were broken and hanging, I sat and looked for several minutes, wondering what held up the drawer supports in the first place, and also why were there 2 pieces of plastic hanging there. I'm a reasonably handy guy but my mind just would not accept it.

I looked last night, ours are the same way. Both with the plastic strips and the fact that they are broken. :-/

Occurred to me you could do the same thing with the 3M strapping tape. It would still need to be stapled.

I gave it the overkill approach, but after getting the gorilla tape I realized the tape would probably come off in the heat and I had the aluminum 'L's laying around anyway.
