Shureflo

We're at Fort Wilderness right now and I have found filling withit waterout that my water holding tank is filling with water while on city water.....could a check valve gone bad on the pump? I thought about letting the tank fill and then let the pump run to see if it would clear. This happen to anyone before?

My guess is that this is exactly what happened. Not sure how to fix it, though.. Do you have documentation on your water pump?

If you need parts or a pump, there is a Camping World not far away from FW.

My fault

I may have to replace the pump due to me not winterizing it even though I never use it.......seems there is trace amounts of water from testing. New pump head and motor can be had for 53 bones on Ebay. Some lessons just cost more than others.

I went with a ShurFlo revolution pump. I know you said you don't use your pump at all or very rarely. I don't use mine much either but, I was able to get the upgraded Revolution pump cheaper than the standard pump. I can't believe how quiet it is. I'd say it is about 80% quieter than a standard water pump.

They do also sell check valves for water pumps. Just check the plumbing sections on alot of camping store websites, such as the link below. Obviously, if your pump head shows signs of leakage then you'll have to replace it.

I have the Revolution also...4008-101-a65, The pump still works fine, and the head does not leak other than allowing city water to back surge into the fresh water tank. I'm going to wait until I can talk to Shurflo to see if it would be just a simple check valve replacement of if the head is damaged.

Fixed

I was able to get the pump out and take the control head off and once I looked at the check valve disk it was apparent what the problem was. The rubber gasket that the check valve seats itself against had gotten out of position and would not allow the disk to seat properly.....I moved it back into position you could watch the disk seat properly. I put it all back together and hooked up the city water and waited and no water was coming out of the holding tank with the drain open. Once again the world is a better place.
