Tire question

I am getting my pop up ready for the my first (and probably only) camping trip this year. I was checking the tire pressure and I noticed one of the tires has 3 or 4 small cracks in the sidewall. They aren't very big (about 1/2 inch long). Is the tire still okay to use?

I will say no. The general rule of thumb is to replace tires after 5 years regardless of miles driven.

Cracks are not a good sign at all.

Sounds like you just need to get a couple new tires.

Enjoy your camping trip.

Vin.

Would my local RV dealer sell tires or do I need to go to a place that sells tires specifically? I'm kicking myself now for not checking them sooner.

The only problem now is I don't own any jack stands. I'm wondering if I took my camper to my local Tire Warehouse if they would be able to take the tires off for me.

Thank you all for your help. I think I'll feel a lot safer with two new tires.

If those tires are the original ones, you have been lucky. Replace them now.

After the new tires are installed, you might want to order some TP sensors such as TST http://tsttruck.com/

I replaced my factory Trail Express tires after only 2800 miles. Found Maxxis M8008 at: Onlinetires.com - MAXXIS - M8008 RADIAL TRAILER

for 456.00 shipped to my door. I then went to Discount Tires and they want around 550.00 + mount/balance and they don't stock them so they had to be order. I showed them the price from online tires and told them I would just order from onlinetires and have them do the mount/balance. They quickly changed their tone and said they would beat that onlinetire price. Took only 2 days and they had them. Ended up being under 500.00 for 4 tires, mounted and balanced. We've logged over 3,000 miles on them this year and my TT no longer sways and it pulls like a dream.. might mention went from "C" to "D" rated. I also went with steel valve stem and had tires balanced with the TPMS sensors on.
2x on the TST I ended up with these because I wanted the booster.. http://www.vulcantire.com/tst_507rv_...FRCCaQodDJMAtg

I have no idea if they are the original tires as I a the 4th owner of the camper. At best they are 4 years old because that is how long I have owned the camper. I can't quite tell what the size is so I hope my local tire warehouse has some in stock.
