Vertical hitch weight

Hello everyone, My vertical hitch weight is over 300 lbs (freedom 2318g), but in my country the max vertical hitch weight for campers of 13 ft and up is 200 lbs. I've read in diferent forums, that if you move the tire axis 1" forward the vertical hitch weight decreases considerability..... is this posible?
Please i need help..: Crying:

Thanks

In theory it could, but I don't think 1" will get you down to under 200 lbs. Two problems you could have doing that, aside from altering the suspension, are that your fender wells are built into the trailer body and that doesn't leave much room to move and that if you move enough weight behind the axles to achieve 200 lbs. (would be around 8% on the hitch), you'll quite possibly have sway issues...especially in downhill situations.

Sorry to question what I know nothing of, but I must ask if you've misunderstood the law. You said for campers 13' & up. That means that a camper of 37' can only have a hitch weight of 200 pounds, which is totally unrealistic. Is it perhaps for 13' and UNDER?

Even at that weight, the hitch weight would less than 3% which would be unsafe. Perhaps it's a minimum of 200 pounds.
