"Weight Conscious" campsite games

I searched for a area where I could bring this topic up but could not locate one in the forums (or my incompetence is under rated...). Because I have strived to keep the weight down in the popup AND I have children, I have been looking for "light weight" game solutions. This thread is NOT meant for just kids games but also adult games (NOT DRINKING GAMES!). So far I have cards, frisbee, kubb (Viking origins game), a night time bocce set, and two coffee tins (to bury) with washers. I'm trying to stay away from electronics due to my DW and "spawns of satan" are normally glued to them. Any suggestions (please include pictures... I'm a man) are welcomed.

Scrabble, Yahtzee, and a combo chess / checkers / Chinese checkers / backgammon set like this one. No power required and some of them actually make you think! We carry these around with us everywhere we go...

If you want a fancy Yahtzee game check out the National Park Services version...

Try Farkle. You just need 6 dice and you can download the score sheet from the web.

I always liked to play with the wife, daughter and friends the game of Othello... "a minute to learn and a lifetime to master" was their tag line. Although I can find it on amazon... I am amazed at the price they want... there are several different versions, but the old Milton Bradley game I used to own must now be considered a collectible item at $75 WOW!

Or just 5 dice and play 10,000- it's really the same game.

Hum, farkle also seems to be the same game we play as Bupkis.
We also include the card game Mille Bornes (played best with at least 4 players). I also look for travel size versions of games as well. We have a travel size cribbage board, though a regular cribbage board is not to big in itself...

Quorkle

Quorkle. Any kids or adults can play. Line up shapes on tiles, same shape, different color or same color different shape. All kept in a canvas bag.
Also double 5 dominos (for space) or double 12 dominos for Train and Chicken Foot. I use the white plastic tiles, but the old fashioned black wood tiles are far lighter.
If you just want to occupy them, the peg board solo games where you try to remove all the pegs one at a time, but jumping can keep them occupied for hours.
One other thing: We often have our grandkids with us. Small kids.
We put them on KP. the first time I said that, they all said,
what's KP?"
I made it a mystery for the day, until I finally said, " You and You, go into the trailer and tell grandma you are on KP."
Of course she gushed over them, saying things like" Oh, wonderful, such good boys,"etc. they were thrilled to help, bringing out dishes, and place settings. One kid inside and one opening and shutting the bug tent.
From then on, all 4 of them wanted a turn, and for that period of time, they are occupied, busy, out of underfoot, and not fighting each other.
In summer, we also have squirt guns, and a small pool, which they really appreciate.

Ages of kids? Cards- you can play a number of different games ie rummy, war, poker, speed, etc. You can get uno or phase 10 also. We found a small lightweight corn hole set at target a couple of years ago. ladderball.

Hoverkraft. No batteries required and hardly weighs anything. Keeps both adults and kids busy for hours. Think of a variation of Jenga played on a floating platform. The two action shots about half way down were taken by my son as my DIL and I were playing.

Love these ideas. No little ones traveling with us, but good ideas to keep DH busy in the evenings without the tv on!

I carry cards, Chutes & Ladders, Sorry and Monopoly. Plus a set of Flower Cards for Asian friends. Just read that lawn darts have been outlawed so will not take anymore.

Only if your lawn darts are an old set with the metal tips (like from the 70s). Those were outlawed years ago (1988). The new versions are made of plastic and and i don't think these are banned.

Uno is a great card game. Always have a set in our rig. For more activity, try Ladder Golf - it breaks down to nothing and is very lightweight (unlike our other addiction Corn Hole )

Can jam is always fun for all ages. Uno scrabble and cards are all good.
And we carry paints and canvas for other distractions.

Our standby game is Rumolli... We like it because it's one of those games that allows for any number of players and you can put a time limit on it. If you need to get little ones to bed.

I remember that we used to have a set of those back in the 70s. Did not have them long, though i don't know what my folks did with em.

Maybe you aught to get a legal set......and happy birthday....
