Winch issues

I purchased a 2007 Flagstaff pop-up 227 which came with no paperwork or manual. I'm wanting to replace the motor to the electric winch but can not find a part number? Anyone have a part manual - the winch possibly has part number P300001?Click image for larger version

Or has anyone ever replaced the factory winch with another brand or style of winch (if possible?)

the design has changed for the better if you look back in the posts there are many post on lift problems. i had a horrible time cause of my lift system and replaced it, it cost me 420 dollars with the tax for new system. because if the motor stops working you only that little 7/16 nut on top of motor to turn it takes about 30 turns or more to raise 1 inch.

I am not aware of another brand. But people have spoken about bringing the motor to an electric motor repair shop to have it rebuilt. It might just be easier to buy a new winch on the net and instaill it yourself. Cannot be too hard.

When you replaced it did you use the same winch or just buy a whole new one of the same?

I also like maybe taking it to a motor repair shop.....my problem is that the motor overheats (no resistance on the top though) and it pops the Short Stop relay, it cools and then will continue for a little more. The only problem is that little motor.

Just for future notice...the replacement motor for this winch is called a "10-L-1000". I got a price quote of $331.50 which includes motor, switch and switch cover. Anyone know anything about this winch system?

On the company's web site that makes this electric winch there is a notice there that has this model winch on recall. You have to download the pdf for it.
Hope that helps some.

Warn ATV winch

I have a Rockwood M190XR with the Powerwinch mechanism. I was never able to raise the roof with one lift cycle. I was blowing fuses.

I bought the unit used, so do a full lubrication on the Goshen lift and the Powerwinch.

Still blew fuses or had to wait to complete a lift cycle.

After speaking with the Goshen technical support, I switched to a Warn 2000# ATV winch.

Works like a charm

I would not call it quieter from a db perspective. It is a different sound. The Powerwinch sounded like a wounded walrus trying to get back to the ocean.

Powderpiggy can you post a picture of how you mounted the winch. I was thinking of doing the same thing.

Warn ATV winch

The M190XR has a 4' ATV platform and an open space between the coupler and the platform frame. The Powerwinch is located near the coupler. The horizontal frame member has a rectangular slot cutout for the cable to go thru.

I mounted the winch on the supplied bracket by drilling 2 holes and centered it on the opening. I reused the existing cable, but had to reduce by a couple of wire bundles to fit thru the slot in the winch drum. The Warn cable is a smaller diameter. I used the handle bar control switch and mounted it near my main battery keyed switch. The handle bar control requires a dc voltage to operate, so I wired it into the keyed switch. Cabling was bundled and placed on underside tray beneath the existing Powerwinch. I took out the inline 60 amp fuse on the Powerwinch so it is disabled but can be reused in the future.

The picture is taken from the front right side.

Well the popup winch issue is now over and done.....got a new motor and the top goes up in well under 10 seconds. Replacement of the old motor was easy and simple, other than having to cut the cable from the last motor. The electrical was just putting the wires to the battery. The new motor came with the cover assembly but I used the old cover instead so I did not have to drill the new holes on the frame. Click image for larger version
